Agha Hashr Kashmiri was an exquisite drama writer of Urdu literature. He was born in 1879 in Amritsar, India. Agha sahib was literate in English, Urdu, Arabic and Persian languages. He started his career by translating some urdu dramas into English. Later on, Agha Hashar kasmiri began to write his own dramas for theatrical companies of India. "Khoobsoorat Bala", "Aseer-e-Hirs", "Mureed-e-Shak" and "Sufaid-khoon" ascented him to the pea of popularity. He was the pioneer of drama writing in urdu literaturetherefore he was popularly known as "Shakspear of urdu". He left this world in 1935 and he was buried in "Miana sahib" graveyard in Lahore (Pakistan).
