Bashar Nawaz
Poet/Writer
--: Biography of Bashar Nawaz :--

 Bashar Nawaz

Bashar Nawaz, along with Dr Syed Shujaat Ali from Nanded (Maharashtra ) and Lutf-ur-Rahman from Darbhanga (Bihar) recently participated in the annual international Mirza Ghalib seminar.Nawaz and Rahman were recipients of this years Ghalib award that included a cash prize of Rs 50,000,a memento and a certificate.

Socially aware poetry has also been the vanguard of change in the hinterland.Tobacco addiction has been the subject of many poems in the town.It might appear to be a mundane topic but actually is a very pertinent subject.By touching on these topics, the poet immediately finds a direct connect with the audience, says Dr Syed Shujaat Ali from Maharashtras Nanded.Lutfur-Rahman says that the smalltown poet today is inspired by contemporary sensibilities.

Writes poet Bashar Nawaz from Aurangabad,Maharashtra : Guzarte mausam ka gard suraj chala hai khamosh sar jhukaye/ Pahadion se utarte jharne ufaq ke daman mein jaise kuch dhoondle dhoondle saaye/ Kapaas ke phool dhalte din ki larasti palkon pe jhilmilaye/ Patheru panchi vida kehne jowar ki balion pe aye/ Kaner ki tarkh tarkh khushboo fiza ki bojhil udasian aur bhi badhaein
(The sun of the past generation is fading with its head bowed down/ What used to be waterfalls from hillocks, appear faded in the new horizon/ Few cotton buds shine as dusk falls for the day/ Tired birds come to say goodbye to jowar (sorghum) crop/ The heady scent of kaner adds to the days tiredness)
The nazm,Janam lete shehar (The birth of cities),metaphorically highlights the farmers dilemma and angst in the times of farmers suicide. In place of wheat, rice, jowar and bajra, theres a demand for new crops like cotton and sugarcane.Agriculture, like everything else, has changed, says Nawaz,75 who started writing poetry since 1954.
