The 48th Shankar-Shad (Indo-Pak) Mushaira

The Annual Shankar Shad Mushaira is a legacy to commemorate the memory of Sir Shankar Lal & Mr. Murli Dhar of the DCM Conglomerate, who are known for their contribution to the social, educational and cultural life of New Delhi, as the patron of Urdu poetry. Mushaira will showcase the well-renowned Urdu poets who would be reciting their best poetry or Shayari. The famous Indo-Pak Shankar-Shad Mushaira is inseparable from the cultural life of the capital. The event is scheduled to take place under the umbrella of 'Shankar-Shad Mushaira', a literary event, held annually by the Shankar Lall Murli Dhar Memorial Society.

This literary Event was founded in 1954 and has enjoyed the patronage of leading lights of the nation like former PMs Jawahar Lal Nehru and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Shankar-Shad Mushaira has been named after two renowned poets of Delhi--late Lala Murli Dhar 'Shad' and Sir Shankar Lal 'Shankar' had assumed the character of a literary institution of great importance in the world of Urdu poetry.

The 48th Shankar-Shad Mushaira-would present the amalgamation of well-renowned poets like Zehra Nigah, Ms. Fatima Hassan and Mr. Anwar Mazbool Sahar Ansari from Pakistan and Malikzada Manzoor Ahmed, Javed Akhtar, Bekal Utsahi, Waseem Barelvi, Anwar Jalalpuri, among others from India.
