Intrduction

Wajid Ali Columnist/Journalist (born 06 June 1973 in Bahawalpur,Punjab,Pakistan),He is one of Pakistani columnist who has built a wide readership over a very short period of time. His weekly column “ROK TOK” is being published in Daily Pakistan, Pakistan’s most widely circulated Urdu daily, addresses issues of an ordinary citizen in a unique and humorous style. Wajid Ali approaches a variety of social issues directly relevant to the human condition and Pakistan’s emerging bitter-sweet psyche.

Wajid Ali’s first book with the name “ROK TOK” was launched in August 2011. This book is a collection of his columns published in daily Pakistan  from 2007 to 2011.

Career

Wajid Ali was born in Bahawalpur in 1973. He did his matriculation from Government Technical High School, Bahawalpur.He had to leave his education due to some domestic problem and  then he did his intermediate form BISE and graduation from Islamia University Bahawalpur as private candidate. He later acquired post-graduate degree in Mass Communication from Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

While doing his Masters  Wajid Ali wrote some columns in daily Nawa-i-Waqt.Khabrain and daily Jang. However, since November 2006, he has been writing regular weekly column in Daily Siyadat; and since October 2007 ,he join daily Pakistan and writing column in this news paper till now.Wajid is doing job as PRO with NGO(People,s Organization for Peace and Education). He is working as a lecturer of Journalism in Govt Post Graduate College,Bahawalpur.He also writing articles for most viewed urdu web site www.urdugalaxy.com.

Awards

Wajid Ali has received numerous national awards, including an award from Federal Minister of Human Rights Mumtaz Alam Gillani for his performance  with NGO(People,s Organization for Peace and Education) in Year 2009.Wajid Ali has rich sense of classical and modern music and has composed play back music/sound effects for many drama serials of TV and also got an award regarding music from Aslam Qureshi(senior producer of PTV).
