Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid visits GITEX
Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has visited this afternoon GITEX Technology Week 2014at Dubai World Trade Center. The thirty four years old exhibition is considered one of the world’s top five technology exhibitions. Accompanied by Deputy Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mohammed inspected pavilions of international specialised Information technology companies. This year's edition is considered the biggest in terms of exhibitors’ number and exhibition area which reached 100,000 square meters hosting about 3,700 exhibitors from 70 countries, including the United Arab Emirates. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid started his tour at Microsoft Corporation pavilion, the world’s leading developer of personal computer software systems and applications. Microsoft introduced to Sheikh Mohammed their latest technology CityNext. Utilizing drones, Microsoft CityNext Public Safety solutions empower government organizations and individuals to collect information on emergency situations, ambulance services, rescue operations and finding locations. Expected to operate in the United Arab Emirates, CityNext technology is introduced for the first time in the Middle East in GITEX and operates only in New York, US. Sheikh Mohammed also visited pavilions of Intel Corporation, SAP SE, BlackBerry Limited, Orical LLP, Panasonic, Saudi Telecom, Du, Ericsson, ZTE, Cisco, Kaspersky and LG. Concluding his tour, Sheikh Mohammed stopped at the pavilions of Dubai Smart City, Abu Dhabi e-government, Dubai Residency Department, Dubai Police, Dubai Health Authority and Dubai Ambulance. Following the tour, Sheikh Mohammed expressed his happiness for exhibition, and he said Gitex became a hub for international hi-tech companies, as well as national government organizations and individuals to share knowledge and exchange expertise.His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid was accompanied by Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Head of the Smart City Committee Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Director General of Dubai Ruler's Court and Director of Dubai e-government Ahmed bin Humaidan, Commander General of Dubai Police Major General Khamis Matar Al Mazina, Director General of Dubai Protocol Department Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre and Director General of Dubai Tourism and Commercial Marketing Department Hilal Saeed Al Marri and a number of senior officials.
