| Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid attends MEWs Creativity Lab |  | | Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved UAE air quality network project, a network that collects unified data on the environment from all around the UAE to provide accurate information on the quality of air in the country.
Shaikh Mohammad expressed his admiration for the project and approved it on the sidelines of the creative lab brainstorming session organized by the Ministry of Environment and Water and hosted by the Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation. Following detailed studies carried out in this regard, Shaikh Mohammad ordered the immediate implementation of the network, which will pave the way for launching it as a project in the coming period.
Accompanied by Deputy Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Shaikh Mohammad attended different brainstorming sessions and discussed suggestions and ideas proposed by over 100 participant and expert from local and federal government entities and private sector.
Addressing the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed said: “The UAE and its citizens deserve so much from us, and on the top of such requirements is a healthy environment and fresh air. We have to be ahead of time by innovating more sustainable solutions”. He stressed that preserving and protecting the local environment is at the forefront of his priorities, and is a matter which he closely follows up because it affects the health of society.
His Highness added: “President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan continues to follow in the footsteps of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan in protecting the environment by participating in international efforts that aim to implement a green economy strategy. This includes implementing the UAE’s green development strategy, launching massive projects that serve the people of UAE and the world and preserving natural resources”.
Shaikh Mohammad urged government entities and experts to further expand their research and come up with realistic and applicable ideas and solutions. “This requires you to head out into the field and interact with the people, acquaint yourself with environmental challenges and come up with necessary solutions. We hope that you will come up with unprecedented ideas and solutions for tackling all environmental challenges”, Shaikh Mohammad concluded.
His Highness emphasized on the role and responsibilities of private sector as a key partner and supporter of environmental initiatives and projects that contribute to achieving an environment that is free of pollution for the health and safety of people and preservation of natural resources.
The brainstorming session was attended by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Environment and Water Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd, Director General of Dubai Protocol Department Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and a number of senior officials.
