Bring privilege motion against BJP MLA: Nitish Kumar

PATNA: The state government on Wednesday pleaded with speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary to bring privilege motion against former minister and BJP MLA from Aurangabad district, Ramadhar Singh, for his claim in the assembly that the levy collected by Maoists was being sent to the "highest" in the state.

Singh also claimed that a certain Maoist area commander, with reach, control and activities in Aurangabad and Gaya districts respectively, was also using the house of "that highest" in Patna for his safe hideout and shelter.

"The charges levelled by Singh are serious which certainly warrant initiation of the privilege motion against him," CM Nitish Kumar told the speaker, moments after he concluded his detailed reply to the special debate on terrorism, communalism and Naxalism in the house.

The Speaker immediately assured the house that he would look into the demand.

Earlier, while participating in the debate, Singh took names of police station in charges in Aurangabad district, accusing them of being either in connivance with Maoists or helping them in collecting levies from contractors executing schemes and projects of the state government.

"Today, they are collecting levies from contractors. Earlier, they used to collect levies from government employees and officials, or even taking cuts from the salaries of teachers," Singh alleged.
