Many impressive buildings in Bihar soon:

CM Nitish Kumar

PATNA: Reiterating that all the buildings should be quake resistant with less energy consumption and constructed on time, CM Nitish Kumar said a number of impressive buildings, meeting all the standard requirements, will come up soon. He was speaking at the 3rd foundation day of Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Limited (BSBCCL). The corporation, set up in 2010, has constructed 40 buildings which were unveiled by the CM.

The corporation is involved in upgrading 63 primary health centres into community health centres and ten projects have been completed. "The BSBCCL has undertaken construction projects worth Rs2200 crore, including an agriculture university, stadiums, remand homes and godowns. The corporation is running in profit," the CM said.

Nitish said he brought Chanchal Kumar from his office to the building construction department as secretary in view of the increasing importance of this department, particularly the mega projects like construction and expansion of legislative assembly complex and secretariat buildings which will be interlinked. The construction of new buildings has started and they include international convention centre named as Gyan Bhavan, besides a museum of international standard.

The Gyan Bhavan, he said, will be situated north of the road near Gandhi Sangrahalaya which will be a multipurpose complex with a hall of 5000 capacity and will cost Rs500 crore. "We are going ahead with construction projects as per our need which will also reflect our civilization. The convention centre will be a signature building," he claimed.

The CM also referred to the proposed agriculture university at Kishanganj which will come up between two rivers and will be a beautiful building. The decision to construct an agriculture university at Kishanganj had been taken during his Seva Yatra to the district and the cabinet approved the project, he said and added that it would be a challenge for the corporation to realize the dream.

A new state-of-the-art police headquarters will be constructed on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg with a facility for people to take shelter during natural calamities. The BSBCCL, under its corporate social responsibility, provided electricity and drinking water supply to Digha ghat and other nearby places on the occasion of Chhath. The corporation also published two pictorial books, one on Kalpbriksh, the historical peepal tree at Gaya, and another on Pakar tree at Pantpakar Dham under Bathnaha block in Sitamarhi district.

Building construction department (BCD) secretary Chanchal Kumar presented a sapling of Ficus Microcarpa to the CM. BCD minister Damodar Raut said the corporation has completed many projects in a brief period and constructing the buildings as per the concept and thoughts of the CM.

Nitish awarded BCD AGM Rambabu Prasad for the good work of the department.
