Dr Fareed Parbati passes away

Srinagar, Dec 14 20011: Eminent Urdu Poet of the Valley, Dr Fareed Parbati passed away on Wednesday here.
 Dr Fareed was suffering from stomach ailment from last two months for which he was operated at AIIMS. However, following deterioration of his health, he was admitted in SKIMS Soura on December 4 and today evening he breathed his last.
 Born on August 14, 1961, Fareed did his graduation and Masters in Commerce from Islamia College of Science and Commerce and Kashmir University respectively. Later, he did his M.A, M.Phil and doctorate in Urdu from Kashmir University and joined as Lecturer in the department.
 Fareed also authored 14 books including eight poetic collections and six others on Urdu criticism. He had done commendable work on “Urdu Rubiyat” and was awarded by a number of Institution including Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for his work.
 Dr Parbati was considered energetic and vibrant literary personality of the State and was ranked among one of the best writers in Urdu language of the contemporary period .He was also invited by many prominent universities of the country to deliver lectures on Urdu literature.
 In a joint statement Cultural Academy expressed shock over Dr Fareed’s demise.
