 Maulana Akram Khan 

Maulana Akram Khan(1868-1969)was Journalist, politician and scholar. Editor of several Islamic publications, during the British rule in India, journalist, politician and scholar Maulana Muhammad Akram Khan and his magazine Sebak supported the Non-cooperation and the Swadeshi Movements.

Sebak was banned and Maulana was arrested for anti-government editorials. 

In 1936 Maulana published the Azad, then the only Bengali daily, that contributed greatly to generating support for the Muslim League in Bengal. 

A scholar of highest repute Maulana was directly involved in the Khilafat Movement and was closely associated with the Ahl-e-Hadith activities in Bengal. He translated the Qur’an in Bengali. 

Maulana Akram Khan reported to have belonged to the famous Tagore family of Bengal.
