ARWAL: On the second day of his Seva Yatra in Arwal on Wednesday, CM Nitish kumar had a hectic schedule. Besides visiting several places, he laid foundation stone of various scheme worth Rs 62 crore and inaugurated projects worth Rs 43 crore.

At around 8am, the CM's cavalcade reached the neighbouring Harna village, where he interacted with a group of villagers sitting at the village square.

The village head, Kamakhya Singh, with folded hands thanked the CM for bringing in the much-needed peace in the troubled region. On behalf of the villagers, Singh had only one request to make to the CM, "Sir, humlog ke khali bijli, pani ka intejam kar deyi, sab thik ho jai (We want only electricity and irrigation water and everything will be set right.)." The CM also had a cup of tea with the villagers. Then, the CM proceeded towards the village school where he met a group of girls in school uniform. He talked to them to know if they had any problems. The girls replied, "No problem, sir". However, a schoolgirl standing at a distance said,"CM uncle, I am yet to get a bicycle".

The CM instructed the officials to provide her a bicycle. Next, the CM's cavalcade reached the mega bridge being built over the Sone. The CM made a thorough inspection of the bridge for about half an hour and directed the officials to speed up the work and complete it by April, 2012. He announced that he would inaugurate and dedicate it to the people on June 5, 2012. Around 10am, the CM along with his entourage visited Pakharpur village where he paid floral tributes to a saint, Radha Baba, and also interacted with the villagers on various development schemes.

Finally, while addressing a fairly large public meeting at the local Gandhi maidan, the CM said he was very much pleased to see peace in Arwal, which was once known for internecine violence and caste wars. He said that after undertaking an extensive tour of the district, he has come to know of the problems bedevilling the progress of the district.
