Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar on Sunday met Mahatma Gandhi's granddaughter Tara Gandhi Bhattacharya who is the vice-chairperson of Gandhi Smriti and Kasturba Gandhi Memorial Trust. She praised the CM for encouraging khaddar and developing Bihar and invited him to visit Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi, which he accepted. He said Bihar is the birthplace of Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir and this is the place from where Mahatma Gandhi started his satyagraha. 

She also urged the CM to visit Kasturba Gandhi Memorial Trust at Pusa Road in Samastipur district, to which Nitish said he would certainly go there. She said UNO has declared October 2 as World Non-violence Day and people should devote this day for self-introspection and examine their role in society in spreading peace.
